All About Us
Hi friends! Thank you so much for taking interest in Kids Corner. We are The Poindexters and we independently own and operate Kids Corner in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The idea for this business came about after having our second little boy and feeling there was a huge need in our area for more indoor play options for toddlers. Our vision for this play space was inspired largely by our own need to connect with other parents with kids of similar ages, and wanting to have a fun and comfortable place to do so that didn't involve having to clean our house for a play date every time we wanted to get together with friends. We wanted Kids Corner to be a safe place for littles of all abilities to have fun and get their energy out while parents unwind and connect in our lounge areas, or snuggle up with your infants while your toddler plays.
My Mission
The Who, The Why and The How
As a mother navigating the challenges of ADD, OCD, and Anxiety, I understand the weight of overstimulation all too well. The moment I step into a bustling indoor play area, I can feel the rush of anxiety creeping in—the noise, the crowds, the chaotic energy that can quickly spiral into overwhelm. It’s a journey I know many parents face, and the fear of mom-rage or a complete mental shutdown often looms large. I’ve experienced it firsthand, and it’s a struggle that can overshadow the joy of parenting.
But my journey has not been traveled alone. I have a beautiful son who is on the Autism Spectrum and has ADHD. Together, we’ve faced the unique hurdles that come with these challenges. I’ve sat through countless IEP meetings, advocating for understanding and support, and I’ve seen how, all too often, our world feels unprepared for those who think, feel, and experience life differently. While special accommodations can make a difference, I yearn for something more—an environment that is inherently inclusive and welcoming to all.
This yearning is what inspired me to create Kids Corner. I envisioned a space where every child, regardless of their needs, could thrive and play freely. A sanctuary where the overstimulation is minimized, where the atmosphere is calm and nurturing, and where every parent can feel at ease, knowing their child is in a safe and supportive environment.
At Kids Corner, we believe in the power of inclusivity. We strive to create a world where our unique differences are celebrated, where every child can play, learn, and grow without the anxiety of overwhelming surroundings. Together, we can build a community that embraces diversity, fosters understanding, and paves the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.
